The popular Spot Whiskey brand gets its name from the old practice of marking barrels with spots of coloured paint to signify their age potential. The last record of Blue Spot whiskey dated back to 1964. The expression was reintroduced in 2020, bringing a piece of Dublin’s rich whiskey history back to life. The whiskey matured for at least 7 years in bourbon barrels, sherry butts and Madeira casks, and was bottled in October 2024 at a cask strength of 58.4%. Blue Spot 7 Years Old Cask Strength 2024 is a full-flavoured and uniquely satisfying whiskey. On the nose, a light mix of pineapple, kiwi, green banana and lime zest are followed by pot still spices, baked apple, hazelnut and toasted wood. A smooth palate offers notes of fruit, clove oil and cracked black peppercorns. Sweet spices, vanilla and cinnamon add to the wood’s nutty contribution. Exotic fruits and spices linger on the finish.
