Balvenie 16 Years Old French Oak Pineau Cask Finish is the result of Balvenie’s Malt Master David C. Stewart’s innovative and unique experiment with French Oak casks. Pineau des Charentes is a delicious French fortified wine made from fresh grape juice and Cognac eau-de-vie. This is then aged in French oak barrels, and it’s these barrels that are key to David C. Stewart’s creation. After aging his whisky for 16 years in bourbon barrels, this Balvenie is then finished in the Pineau des Charentes barrels which imparts a deep and rich fruit character. The nose displays floral notes, fresh grass, vanilla and apple. The palate has flavours of lemon, grapefruit, manuka honey and ginger. The finish is long, creamy and sweet.
